Mr. Joseph Tavana, CA, CFP - President

Joseph is the founder of Tavana & Co.

In 1967, received a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Wales in the UK and qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in London, England in 1971, after which he began practicing as a professional accountant.
In 1984, qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Ontario and established his Canadian accounting practice in that same year.
In 1985, established Datawhiz Information Systems Inc. to provide consulting on microcomputer-based accounting software.
In 1997, completed of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants? in-depth tax course (Parts I & II), which was designed for accountants and lawyers who specialize in tax.
In 1998, completed the Canadian Securities Course, which was designed for individuals wishing to specialize in investments. In that same year, he passed the Certified Financial Planners (CFP) examination.
In 1999, completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants? International Tax Course.
In 2002, completed Part III of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants? in-depth tax course.
In 2003, designed, developed and published a number of financial software packages under the brand Calcuware. For more information, please visit www.calcuware.com.
In 2006, completed the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants? Corporate Reorganization course.

Ms. Soo Yoon, MMPA, CGA, CA - Vice President

In 2000, received a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Ontario.
In 2002, passed Uniform CPA exam for the state of Vermont, U.S.A.
In 2004, obtained Master of Management & Professional Accounting (MMPA) degree from University of Toronto, Joseph L. Rotman School of Management.
In 2009, qualified as a Certified General Accountant (CGA) in Ontario.
In 2011, qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Ontario.
Soo joined the firm in 2002 and as a vice president manages and supervises the staff on various engagements.

Mr. Mike Gala, FCA (India)

Ms. Shaida Nazari, MA, CGA (Candidate PACE Level)

In 1990, received a Bachelor of Accounting from the University of Tehran in Iran.
In 1997, obtained a Master of Accounting from Allameh Tabatabai University in Iran.
Shaida joined the firm in 2006 and provides our clients with the following services:
- Advises clients with respect to Provincial and Federal compliance issues, such as payroll, HST, WSIB.
- Supervises bookkeeping engagements.
- Helps health care practitioners with the formation and maintenance of professional corporations.
- Prepares tax returns for individuals, corporation, and trusts.
- Assists with the firm?s preparation, and review of financial statements.

Ms. Shabnam Sharif, BSc

In 2004, received a Bachelor of Computer Science from Azad University in Iran.
Shabnam joined the firm in 2010 and provides our clients with the following services:
- Provides bookkeeping services and helps with the firms IT requirements.
- Provides miscellaneous clerical services.

Mr. Barry Movahedi, CA - Consultant

In 1965, received a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Manchester in the UK.
In 1968, qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Manchester England, after which he began practicing as a professional accountant.
In 1985, qualified as a Chartered Accountant (CA) in Ontario, upon which he joined the Bank of Montreal (The Bank). Under Interchange Canada Program, he was seconded by the Bank to RCMP for 3 years to assist them with their forensic accounting needs.
In 1996, joined the firm and retired on 1st January 2011.
